Dinner with Our Taxi Driver

So a few days ago we had to move from one sublet to another and we had 6 large suitcases, so we had to get an Uber. (It’s like a Taxi but you use and app and they come to you-pretty legit.) So we get in the Uber and our driver looks like he might be from Ghana, so I ask him where he’s from because Spencer’s too modest to, since he served his mission there, and turns out he was from Ghana! He happened to live in the same area that Spence served most of his mission. Emanuel was BLOWN away with Spencer’s language and all the food he ate and everything. He kept laughing and shaking his head he was so excited. I love showing off my cute lil husband:) Who would ever think a white boy from Illinois could speak Twi?

So anyways, Emanuel was so excited that he invited us over for dinner to cook Spence some Ghanaian food. They exchanged numbers and yesterday he called us to confirm! How cool!!! So we took a few subways and a bus to get all the way to the other side of the Bronx and met with his family for dinner! It was a wonderful experience. I mostly just sat there and watched how excited the family was to get to know Spence, it’s fun to see him interact with them:) I love it!! They were such a nice family, and when will we ever have an opportunity like that. I couldn’t help but laugh how that would sound when telling my mom…”Hi mom, Spencer and I took a Taxi and he invited us over for dinner, he lives in the Bronx and it takes an hour to get there. We love NY!” hahaha

But really….NY provides a whole new world of experiences! Gotta take them!!
